In a blog post yesterday, Micron, owner of Lexar made the announcement that Lexar as a provider of memory cards, thumb drives, card readers etc. is done.
Apparently, the company is generating so much success in other parts of the business that continuing to produce Lexar products is not financially viable. The business unit may be sold, and there are apparently interested parties.
What does this mean for your Lifetime warranty. Product lifetime is now over, so there goes your warranty - at best guess. No actual information was provided. Nor was there a formal press release either.
I have successfully depended on Lexar products for many years. Now I have one choice left, which is Sandisk. All the others are tertiary brands with known performance, quality and reputation issues.
